Burnt trees and smouldering vegetation could be seen in Sierra Bermeja, southern Spain on Tuesday, as a devastating wildfire in the region was reportedly brought under control after six days.
Fire-fighting helicopters could be seen loading water tanks to douse the flames, while workers used chainsaws to clear roads blocked by burnt trees.
Since the fires started last week, firefighters and the military have been trying to put out the blaze which has to date far burnt at least 7,400 hectares of land and forced the evacuation of around 3,000 people in the province of Malaga.
The blaze was reportedly brought under control by firefighters on Tuesday, according to a statement by the Andalusia region’s interior minister, Elijah Bendodo.
