Ruptly is live from La Palma in the Canary Islands on Friday, October 1, as the volcano in the La Cumbre Vieja area continues to erupt.

on Tuesday night, after 10 days of the eruption, lava emerging from the volcano reached Atlantic waters.

The solidified magma is creating a delta that is already 500 metres (1,640 feet) wide on the Tazacorte coast.

The eruptions prompted the evacuation of more than 6,000 people from numerous villages.

Smoke clouds billowed from the volcano and the molten rock as it flowed down Cumbre Vieja’s western flank.

Scientists have warned that the eruption could continue for weeks or even months.
